Knit denim fabric is generally categorized as warp or weft knitting, depending on how the loops form. Three techniques can be used to create the denim effect in knitted fabric.

  1. First, the effect is created with float-plated structures, which are made of plating yarn.
  2. Second, there is the interlock structure, which is a double-knit structure on both sides, to create a denim-like effect.

What is Woven Denim Fabric?

A woven denim fabric is formed by putting together two or more strands of yarns that are perpendicular to each other and woven in a 90-degree angle. The vertical yarns are called warp yarns, and horizontal yarns are called weft yarns. Woven denim fabric can be produced in a variety of constructions, including 3/1 twill, 2/1 twill, 2/2 broken twill, and 3/1 broken twill. It is used to produce jeans trousers, shirts jackets, skirts, and bags. The woven denim structure gives the fabric better stability and durability, but it lacks stretch ability as the yarns are interlocked in an interlacement pattern.
