How to Towel Bleach Wash in Denim: 15 Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction

Towel bleach wash is a kind of uneven wash that looks like acid wash. However, there are marginal differences between acid wash and towel wash. The effect of towel wash is comparatively larger than the acid wash effect. From both types of wash, uneven shade is obtained.  In acid wash, pumice stone is used as an abrasive material. On the other hand, small pieces of a towel are used as an abrasive material in the towel bleach wash. Sometimes, potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) is used instead of bleach.  Initially, the towel was cut down into small pieces and then dipped in a bleaching solution.

Then, slightly squeeze the towel to remove the extra bleaching solution. Subsequently, loaded the towel into the machine and ran the machine with garments. After a certain time, the garments are checked. If the desired effect is found, neutral the garments with Na-meta-bi sulfate.

working Procedure of Towel Bleach Wash

Step-1: Desizing

• Add 200 L of water to the machine and load the garments into the washing machine.
• Now, set the temperature 60⁰ C and run the machine for 15 minutes.
• Add desizing agent and L.P-30
• Purpose: Desizing process remove the size materials from the denim pants.

Step-2: Rinse

• Load the machine with 300 l cold water.
• Run the machine 3 minutes for 2 times.
• Purpose: Rinsing process remove residual chemicals and loose impurities of the garments.

Step-3: Bleach

• Add 200 L water and set the temperature to 45⁰ C.
• Add the bleach agent KCl and run the machine 5-10 minutes. After 5-10 minutes check the bleach shade. If shade is OK. then drain out the water.
• Purpose: Lighten the pants and prepare for acid wash.

Step-4: Rinse

Step-5: Neutralization

• Add 200 L of water to the machine.
• Add hypo as a neutralizing agent.
• Set the temperature 450⁰ C and run for 5 minutes.
• Purpose: neutralize the bleaching agent to avoid fabric damage of the denim pant.

Step-6: Rinse

Step-7: Dryer

• Now, garments send to the hydro-extractor section. In hydro-extractor section, extra water removes from the garments
• Finally, dryer the garments to dry.

Step-8: Towel bleach wash

• Initially, Clean the wash drum with dried fabric to remove the extracted water from the machine .
• Take 5-liter water in a pot and add 1.5 kg bleaching power. Mix the solution.
• Next, dipping a 2 kg towel into the pot.
• Give sometime to abrasion the bleaching solution by the towel.
• Now, slightly squeeze the towel to remove extra liquid.
• Then, loaded the towel into the machine and run the machine for 1 min.
• Next, loaded the garments and run the machine.
• After 5-10 minutes, check the garments. when desired effect gets, unload the garments.

Step-9 : Rinse

Step-10: Neutralization

• Add 200 L of water and set the temperature 45⁰ C.
• Add Na-Meta bi sulfite as naturalizing agent and run the machine for 5 minutes.
• Purpose: Neutralize the remaining chemicals and stop for further reaction.

Step-11 : Rinse

Step-12: Tint

• Load 150 L of water into the machine.
• Add require amount of dyestuff and salt.
• Run the machine for 5 min at 45⁰ C.
• Purpose: create vintage and old looking of the garments.

Step-13 : Rinse

Step-14: softener

• Add 150 L of cold water and cationic softerner
• Run the machine for 5 minutes
• Purpose: Increase the softness and hand feel of the garments.

Step-15: dryer

• Now, garments send to the hydro-extractor section. In hydro-extractor section, extra water removes from the garments
• Finally, dryer the garments to dry.

Conclusion
