Machines Used in Garments Washing Plant with Easy Description/ Dry Process & Wet Process Machine List

Sharing is caring!

Introduction

The washing industry of the new millennium is quite different from the one that existed only a decade or two ago. These industries have become one of the most globalized garment sectors, with a vast worldwide production and distribution network that includes almost every country of the world as a participant in some way. In this article, I will present a list of machines used in garment washing plants.

Types of machines used in garments washing

Mainly there are two types of machines used in garments washing industry. They are

  1. Wet process machine
  2. Dry process machine.

Now, I will describe these two types of machines used in the garments washing industry.

1. Wet process machines used in garments washing

Below is list of wet process machines used in garments washing industry.

  • Washing machine
  • Hydro Extractor
  • Ozone Machine
  • Dryer

Let’s come to the details of the wet process machines used in the garments washing industry.

Washing machine

Washing machine
Figure 1: Washing machine

The machine directly used for washing is called a washing machine. It is the main machine of the washing plant. This machine does all types of washing. Washing machines are also used for garment dyeing. Based on loading, garment washing machines can be classified into two categories.

  • Front loading machine: the machine that is loaded from the front side is called the front loading machine.
  • Top loading machine:  A machine that is loaded from the top side is called a top loading machine. This machine is also called a belly machine.

Hydro extractor

Hydro-extractor
Figure 2: Hydro extractor

A hydro extractor is the machine by which water is removed from garments. After washing, we put the garments into the hydro extractor. The hydro extractor works based on centrifugal forces. When the hydro extractor is moving at a high speed, materials and water want to go outside, but materials cannot go out, but water will go. About 70-80% of water is removed by this process.

Ozone machine

Ozone machine
Figure 3: Ozone machine

This machine is used to change the color of garments after washing, and it is also used for washing purposes. This machine is like a washing machine, but the only difference is that it can change the garment’s color without water use. We can do sustainable washing with this machine. Here, there is no water, no chemicals, and less energy consumed. So, it is possible to use sustainable denim washing in an ozone machine. This machine is rare today. But in the near future, this machine will be more popular.

Dryer

Figure 4: Dryer

A dryer is a machine used for drying garments after washing. Based on the heating process, there are two types of dryers.

  • Gas dyer: In this dryer, natural gas is directly burned, producing heat. This heat is applied to garments when the dryer drum moves, taking the heat from the upper part of the dryer.
  • Steam dryer: steam is converted to heat in this dryer by using a heat exchanger. Then, the heat is applied to garments at the time of inside the drum and dried. This heat exchanger’s name is the condenser. The condenser converts the steam to heat.

2. Dry process machines used in garments washing

Following listed some common dry process machines used in garments washing plant.

  • Sand blasting machine
  • Hand sand machine
  • 3D crinkle machine
  • Plastic staple tag machine.
  • Pen types destroy machine
  • Pressing machine
  • Oven
  • Grinding machine
  • PP spray cabin
  • Laser machine

Sand blasting machine

These machines are used to remove the color from garments. Sand is directly hit on the surface of the garment by air pressure, and then the color is removed from the surface. However, the buyer has not approved this process due to environmental and health hazards.

Hand sand machine:

The machine by which we performed the hand sand process is called the hand sand machine. Actually, it is not a machine; it is a dummy. This machine contains one balloon, a stand and some pneumatic signals. Garments are put on the dummy, then air pressure is applied, and the process is done easily.

3D crinkle

This is the machine used for 3D crinkles. These crinkles are slightly different from normal crinkles. One is two-dimensional, and another is three-dimensional. Before creating a 3D crinkle, the resin is applied to a specific area. There are many 3D crinkle machines on the market, such as vertical, horizontal, and others.

Plastic staple tag machine:

This machine is used for tagging garments. After washing, the garment is marked where the tag is attached. This machine has a needle and plastic pin. When workers press the paddle of the machine, the motor and needle move inside the fabric.

Pen-type grinding machine

These machines are used to destroy garments. Pneumatic or electric signals operate these machines. One stone is attached to this machine at the front. When this stone moves at high speed, it harms specific areas of garments, damaging them in the desired area.

Pressing machine

The pressing machine is used to press the garments by heat, and it makes a permanent palette. We used steam as a heat source for this machine. First, press the garments and take the stem to produce heat.

Oven

This is the machine in which curing is done. After the crinkle is done, we put the garments in the oven for a specific time. We maintain the temperature at 1500 c because at this temperature, a curing reaction happens. At the curing reaction, resin reacts with cellulose, making a bond. This oven may be gas, electric or other fuel-based. There are two types of curing ovens.

  • Open door/ conveyor belt oven: this is the oven by which we can get production continuously. Its other name is conveyor belt oven also. The oven’s main door will never close as the conveyor belt moves within the door. Productivity is more than close door oven.
  • Close-door oven: in the closed-door oven, garments are hung with a hanger and then put in the oven. After putting the garments inside, the door is closed for a certain time at curing temperature. The time and temperature are set previously. After curing, complete garments will be out within the door.

PP spray cabin

This is the cabin that contains a spray gun and a rubber dummy. Garments are worn on the dummy, and then the gun sprays PP. This cabin has two or three exhaust fans. This fan exhausts the dust and PP smell from the cabin. Now, the exhaust is removed by water flowing. The PP solution is hung with the cabin by a bucket. When workers start to spray, the solution comes from the bucket with the help of air pressure.

Laser Machine

The laser machine is used to do a whisker and brush on denim pants. This machine is also used to print on denim pants. At first, the design was made using Photoshop or Illustrator, and the design was in BMP image format. Now, insert the design into the machine and fix the intensity of the laser light. Finally, laser light is imposed on denim pants.
