Lab Report: Study on material passage diagram of porcupine opener machine in blow room

Introduction:

Porcupine openers are machines used in cotton blow rooms to further open and clean cotton fibers. They are equipped with spiked rollers (porcupine rollers) that help separate and open the fibers. This machine utilizes a photocell bulb for feed control. The Cotton Tuff material is compressed, then passed through by a beating and forwarding action. Spikes rotate forwards towards the beating action.

Objectives:

  1. To know about porcupine opener machine.
  2. Come to learn function of porcupine opener.
  3. To know different part of porcupine opener.
  4. Come to learn working procedure of porcupine opener.

Function of Porcupine Opener Machine:

  1. The primary function of the porcupine opener machine is to open the cotton fiber.
  2. This machine also use to separate impurities such as grass and dry broken leaves from the cotton fiber.
  3. Porcupine opener machine not only separate the impurities, but also clean the fiber by removing unwanted materials from the cotton fiber.
  4. By opening, separating, and cleaning the cotton fiber, the machine plays a important role in feeding the processed material to the next machine in production line.

Main Parts of Porcupine Opener Machine:

  • Feed lattice: Feed lattice is used for feeding purpose.
  • Pressure Roller: This roller applies Pressure on fibers.
  • Feed Roller: Feed puller feed fibers into porcupine Opener.
  • Pedal Lever: The weight of cotton feed per unit time is maintained by it.
  • Porcupine Beater: This is roller apply beating on fibers.
  • Grid: Grid separates fibers and impurities.
  • Condenser: Fibers are condensed in perforated cage.
  • Stripping Roller: This roller applies Stripping on fiber.
  • Delivery trunk: Out is collected here.

Working Principle:

  1. In the cotton pressing process, cotton is carried forward by a feed lattice and pressed by a pressure roller.
  2. Pedal feed regulation motion maintains a constant weight of cotton fiber feed per unit time as cotton sheet passes between pedal and pedal roller.
  3. The pedal roller feeds the cotton between the feed rollers, which are weighted to provide necessary grip on the cotton. The shaft of this opener is equipped with 17 circulated disks.
  4. Through the grid spacing, sand, dust, and trash are passed.
  5. Cotton is deposited layer by layer in the reverse box through the condenser and stripping roller until it reaches the delivery trunk after leaving the porcupine beater roller.
  6. Across the width of the scutcher, the output material is fed by lattice in the form of uniform feeding.

Conclusion:

As a result of this experiment, we were able to learn about porcupine opener machines in our last lab. As a result of this experiment, we learned about these machines’ specific jobs, their main parts, and their working principles. Thanks to our teacher, these machines were essential for lap production. This experiment will help us in the future.
